Michael Breaux Bio
I'm Coach Mike Breaux, and basketball has always been a part of my life. Both of my parents played high school basketball, and my cousin, David Benoit, played professionally with the Utah Jazz in the mid 90's. I played AAU basketball for Team Louisiana from 1992 to 1994 and competed with them in the 16U National AAU Championship in 1993, where we finished in 3rd place. After that, colleges began recruiting me, and I earned Honorable Mention on the McDonald's All-American Roster. Unfortunately, I sustained an injury during my senior year, but I was able to play one year at Bossier Parish Community College. Although I never fully recovered from my injury, I was still able to pursue my dream by trying out for the Austin Spurs of the NBA Developmental League in 1997. Since then, I've been involved with youth basketball and have discovered my passion for coaching and training.
My focus is on providing drills that enhance fundamentals while learning to recognize different situations during gameplay. I believe that balance, footwork, dribbling, and shooting are all essential components of developing a well-rounded player. My goal is to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to learn the fundamental skills, strategies, and techniques of the game and how to incorporate them into their game to perform at their full potential.
